Rob joined the office in 2007 after working exclusively with the tax group of a national chartered accounting firm for 19 years. Rob has practiced for 23 years in the areas of personal and corporate income taxation and has professional experience ranging from advising the local owner/manager with compliance issues to planning and executing complex business divestitures.
Rob's professional career experience has focused primarily in the areas of owner-managed taxation and estate planning for high net worth individuals. His detailed technical focus with an eagerness to know and understand the client, makes all parties feel at ease when dealing with estate and succession planning issues. Through the use of unique life insurance structures, trusts and corporate reorganizations, family dynamics can be integrated with asset securitization. Rob has a strong interest in owner managed issues throughout their business and through different stages of life, whether it be an acquisitions, divestitures, involving employees, or divorce. Rob has dealt with many tax issues defending a client’s position against Canada Revenue Agency.
Additionally, Rob has owned and operated a mid-sized grain farm for 25 years. This industry involvement provides a natural interest, understanding and application of agricultural tax issues, farm land transactions, government agriculture programs and farm estate planning issues. Rob is sought after by many top tier agricultural producers to take their tax and estate planning into the next generation.
Rob is a member of the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Alberta(CMA), Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
