Current Status:
Andrew is the President of Mowbrey Gil Business Advisory Services Inc. and practices in the areas of business valuations, litigation support, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and as a consultant to government and aboriginal organizations.

Andrew obtained his designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant in Scotland in 1986 and in Alberta in 1996. In 2006 he obtained his Chartered Business Valuator designation and is registered in the specialty register of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta as a CA-Designated specialist in Business Valuation. 

Andrew has over 25 years of public practice experience gained in the international marketplace working in the United Kingdom, the Falkland Islands, in Canada’s Northwest Territories and Nunavut and finally in Edmonton for the last 8 years with Mowbrey Gil Business Advisory Services Inc.

Selected Valuation and Litigation Experience:

  • The valuation of businesses and business interests for the purpose of shareholder disputes, matrimonial property actions, breach of contract, shareholder dissent or oppression remedies
  • The valuation of businesses and business interests for the purpose of Employee Share Ownership Plans (“ESOP’s”), key employee buy-ins and employee share options;
  • The valuation of businesses and business interests for the purpose of estate freezes and tax reorganizations
  • The valuation of businesses and business interests for the purpose of purchase price allocations and goodwill impairment
  • The determination of business losses and damages arising from such actions as breach of contract, breach of trust, business interruption and personal injury
  • Andrew has been qualified at the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta as an expert in the areas of business valuation

  • Participation in the due diligence process

  • Implementation of debt and deficit recovery programs on behalf of  government agencies and departments
  • Consulting on the budgetary process and cost reduction policies for government departments
  • Consulting on the implementation of governance and financial processes for Aboriginal Self Government
